Krisp does three unrelated favors for a meeting, and each one is a separate switch. Turning on the right one is most of the skill.
Outbound cleanup
Noise cancellation on your microphone strips the dog, the keyboard, and the cafe before your voice leaves your machine. Everyone else hears just you. This is the switch that protects your reputation.
Inbound cleanup
Speaker noise cancellation cleans what you hear, so a teammate calling from an airport arrives without the airport. They do not need Krisp installed for this to work.
Transcripts and notes
Krisp transcribes the meeting and drafts AI summaries with action items, independent of which meeting app you are in because it hears the call at the audio layer. Useful exactly when nobody pressed record.
What you will do in the lesson
You answer and try things. Nobody demonstrates at you for five minutes.
- Trace the audio path. You map where Krisp sits, a virtual microphone between hardware and app, and predict what each application sees.
- Pick the right switch. Given a set of call scenarios, you choose mic cancellation, speaker cancellation, both, or neither.
- Hear the failure mode. You identify what aggressive cancellation does to quiet voices and to music, and when the honest move is turning it off.
- Read machine notes critically. You check an AI meeting summary against the transcript and catch what it dropped or overstated.
- Set a default policy. You settle which switches stay on for everyday calls and which are situational, so setup stops being a per-meeting decision.
Before you start
Does everyone on the call need Krisp?
No. Your copy cleans your outgoing audio for everyone, and cleans incoming audio for you alone. One installed copy quietly upgrades both directions of your own experience.
Which meeting apps does it work with?
Effectively all of them. Krisp registers as a microphone and speaker at the system level, so Zoom, Meet, Teams, Slack, and anything else that lets you pick a mic can pick Krisp.
Do I need Krisp installed to do this lesson?
No. The lesson is hands-on but runs entirely in this page, without an account. Installing Krisp afterwards takes a few minutes, and there is a free plan with daily noise-cancellation minutes.
Zoom already has noise suppression built in. Why add Krisp?
Zoom's suppression works only inside Zoom and only on your mic. Krisp works across every app, cleans incoming audio too, and layers transcription and notes on top. If you live in one meeting tool, built-in may be enough; if you hop between several, one consistent layer is the point.
